While there are plenty of high-quality fonts available online, both free and paid, there are occasions where a unique font is required. The iPad is handy for on-screen drawing/painting though.Fonts play a crucial role in any design project, but there are times when using a custom font is necessary to make the design stand out.

Most of the time I'm using a desktop PC or notebook. So I just roll with the fonts Apple bundled into the OS and the ones I've synced via Adobe Fonts.

I'd prefer a setup more like a regular Windows or Mac computer. When you mention "3rd party site" do you still mean uploading from within the iPad's local storage, a fonts app from the App store or somehow side-loaded from a web site? I'm not getting how an uploaded font would used from within just one file and not be available to other opened Illustrator documents.īTW, I am not fond at all how the iPad OS installs and manages fonts. Adobe "validates" uploaded fonts, but if there was a validation issue I would guess the app would have said something during the uploading process. If the font was uploaded, but not visible I wonder if there was a technical issue with the font file. Have you checked the desktop version of the Creative Cloud app on a desktop or notebook computer? IIRC the desktop app has more capabilities in its Manage Fonts menu than the iPad version. But creating a new file, or using a backup file previous to installing the font seems to be the work around solution. This is a pain since it can cause many of us to have to restart our work. SO this means if you installed that font inside that new/current file from a 3rd party site, then that font stays within that file independently, meaning it will not be in other files except that one you installed it in. Last thing I tried was creating a new file and opening a different file, and finally came to find out that the font was not in nither of those but only within the file that I was this issue with.

I checked with other apps that uses different fonts like MS Word and Goodnotes, but that font did not appear in those apps. I tried looking into my ipad's Settings>General>Fonts and "No Fonts Installed". I tried deleting and reinstalling the app, but that did not work. So I tried replacing the font but I receive the message "This font has already been uploaded" so that did not work. This font did not uploaded to creative cloud, I know it should be there, but it is not. Thank you Bobby, but I don't think you understood the problem. I do most of my type-related design work on regular computers with full-featured physical keyboards. The iPad isn't my main design tool I just need it for certain tasks that involve drawing things directly on a screen.

I'd prefer to be able to install some fonts via an attached external hard drive or flash memory stick. I really don't like that at all because it is very limiting. You can add fonts to an iPad, but apparently the only method Apple allows is via apps through its app store.

They're just hidden from the user to be able to copy or delete. But the iPad OS does include a pretty good collection of system fonts. The fonts category in Settings shows it doesn't have any fonts installed.

I have a slightly old, large model iPad Pro. Did you install (or a more accurate term "sync") the fonts via the Adobe Fonts service? If so you can manage the fonts you have activiated via Adobe Fonts at the web site: Just look for the "manage fonts" shortcut at the upper right corner of the site's main page.
